Magnetite Mines plans to conduct a trial on a magnetic resonance sensor developed by CSIRO at the Razorback iron ore project in South Australia.
The company inked an agreement with NextOre which will supply a mobile bulk ore sorting plant that uses the sensor for 800000.
NextOre was formed by CSIRO Advisian Digital and RFC Ambrian in 2017 to supply magnetic resonance ore sorting solutions to global mining companies.
The magnetic resonance analysers apply a form of radio frequency spectroscopy to generate quantitative measurements of target ore minerals.

LKAB8217s Malmberget ore mountain iron ore mine located at Gllivare 75km from Kiruna contains 20 orebodies spread over an underground area of about 5 by 2.5km of which 10 orebodies are currently being mined. Mining began in 1892 and since then over 350Mt of ore have been won. LKAB employs around 1000 people at Malmberget of whom 900 work in mining processing and administration.
In 2009 Malmberget produced around 4.3Mt of pellets out of LKAB8217s total production of 17.7Mt of iron-ore products.
Malmberget8217s ores are hosted in Precambrian volcanic rocks that have largely been metamorphosed to gneisses.
Containing apatite-bearing iron ore the entire deposit complex has been strongly folded and now consists of a number of ore sheets that may have originally been connected.
Magnetite is the principal iron ore mineral although some areas contain significant amounts of haematite. Apatite contents vary considerably from orebody to orebody with the average phosphorus content lower than 0.8. As of the end of 2009 Malmerbeget8217s proven and probable iron reserves totalled 350Mt at 43.8 proven and 37.8 probable. Measured indicated and inferred resources were 73Mt with the orebodies remaining open at depth.
Due to presence of many orebodies mining at Malmberget is conducted at different levels. The main haulage levels are at 600m 815m and 1000m.
Large-scale sub-level caving developed in Malmberget is the predominant mining method. As at Kiruna electric-powered remote-controlled drilling and loading equipment is used allowing very high labour productivity. Wassara water-hydraulic in-hole hammers and Atlas Copco Simba 469W production jumbos are used the ore being handled by 25t-capacity Bison electric-drive wheel loaders.
Broken ore is trammed to orepasses that run from the production sublevels to the haulage level located since 1989 at 815m. Here the ore is transported by 120t-capacity Sisu Mammut mammoth trucks to the underground crusher stations. Vehicle haulage is used in preference to a rail system to give better control over the blending of ore from each of the seven operating areas. After primary crushing underground the ore is skip hoisted to surface for processing.
Because of the abrasive nature of the ore the Mammut truck bodies are constructed from SSAB Oxelosund8217s special wear-resistant steel Hardox 400. The Bison loader buckets are also made of Hardox 400 with Hardox 500 cutting edges.
Having shown potential in lab-based test work to increase head grades at the Razorback project NextOres magnetic resonance MR ore sorting technology is to now get an outing in South Australia at the high-grade iron ore development.. Razorback owner Magnetite Mines says it has entered into an agreement with NextOre to supply a mobile bulk ore sorting plant using a magnetic resonance MR .
Oct 26 2020nbsp018332The plant will employ the KB 63-130 type gyratory crushers which will be the largest crushers in the country. The crushers will be used to process raw iron ore from the pit and transfer it to the receiving conveyor. A slewing and luffing radial stacker will be installed to stack the secondary crushed magnetite iron ore onto a stockpile.

Frances Creek Iron Ore Project is located 180 km 3 hours drive south-east of Darwin in the Northern Territory.
The operation produced around 10 million tonnes of high grade iron ore for export between 2007 and 2015 following which it was placed on care maintenance due to low iron ore prices.
The Companys Frances Creek plant will be used as a multi-commodity processing site due to existing infrastructure and minimisation of environmental disturbance.
Peko Iron Ore and Gold Project is located in the Tennant Creek region in the Northern Territory.
Peko consists of 3.75 million tonnes of tailings containing magnetite gold copper and cobalt plus in-ground and stockpiled gold-bearing ore resources.
Mar 21 2015nbsp018332These plants receive iron ore mostly by rails. some plant may receive by long distance slurry pipeline. In pelletizing plants located at port which are dependent on imported iron ore the receiving method involves the transportation of the ore in a dedicated ship unloading the ore at a quay and stockpiling it in a yard.
